Orabelle Odorizzi Wharton LUBBOCK-Orabelle Odorizzi Wharton, 96, long-time resident of Lubbock, passed away peacefully at her home July 26, 2014, of natural causes. Orabelle was born to EC and Birdie Ann (White) Jones on Sept. 16, 1917, in Mexhoma, OK. She was the seventh child of ten born to the couple during the infamous dust bowl era. In June of 1935, she married FC Odorizzi. Five children were born to this union: Charles Odorizzi, Wesley Odorizzi (deceased), Joyce Rachels (deceased), Wendell Odorizzi (Carol), and Gary Odorizzi (Sherry); 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. They had a long and happy marriage until the death of FC in 1983. After his death, Orabelle married John G. Wharton who died in 1993. Orabelle was a stay-at-home mother and homemaker. She was a member of the Eastern Star, a charter member of Asbury Methodist Church and more recently a member of St. Luke's Methodist Church. Her legacy to her family and friends is her belief and practice of strong morals and principles and her undying Christian faith. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014, with services following at 11 a.m. at Sanders Funeral Home.
