Gabriel Castillo LUBBOCK-Prayer services for Gabriel Blu Castillo, 23, of Odessa will be today at 7 p.m. in Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be celebrated on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Vandelia Church of Christ (2002-60th Street) with Rev. Doug Hale officiating. Burial will be in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home and Chapel. Gabriel went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 29, 2014. He was born on March 17, 1991, in Lubbock to Carlos Castillo and Trinidad Garcia. Gabriel moved to Odessa in 2005 from Lubbock; he attended Odessa High School. Gabriel enjoyed buying and customizing his cars. He loved life, music, and was always smiling. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs. Gabriel loved his job and his coworkers; he worked for Pro Petro Drilling on Rig 205. He was loved by all of his nephews, niece, aunts, uncles and cousins. Gabriel's favorite saying was Keep your heads up 'cause you can't see Heaven looking down. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Manuel and Amparo Garcia; and his cousin, Big Cuz Juston Garcia. Survivors include his mother, Trini, and his dad Tommy Chavez of Odessa; his father, Carlos Castillo of Lubbock; a brother, Matthew and wife Alexandra Castillo of Odessa; two nephews, Matthew Castillo Jr. and Gabriel Blu Castillo; a niece, Julianna Gabrielle Castillo, all of Odessa; his paternal grandparents, Jesse and Elena Chavez of Odessa, Elizabeth and Pete Rodriguez of Seguin, and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Pallbearers will be Carlos Mendoza, Jesse Gomez, Billy Gomez, Cedrick Harris, David Flores and Angel Ramos. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Salinas Jr. and Manuel Garcia.
