Carl Don Humphreys LUBBOCK-Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Carl Humphreys, 77, of Lubbock from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at Southcrest Baptist Church. Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, a great man of integrity, finished his race and went to be with the Lord on Aug. 2, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer. Carl was born on July 21, 1937, to the late William and Lena (Taylor) Humphreys in Littlefield and graduated from Sudan High School. He received his B. A. from Abilene Christian University and his MBA from Texas Tech University. Carl married the love of his life, Anna Wilson on May 27, 1961, in Ralls. Carl was an educator and taught in San Antonio, Ralls, and Lubbock. He also enjoyed teaching driver's education for 25 years and Sunday school with Anna for many years. Carl was an avid golfer, and fisherman, and was a member of Southcrest Baptist Church. Along with his parents, Carl was preceded in death by three brothers, Arles, Jim, and John and a sister, Ruby. Those surviving Carl are his wife, Anna; a son, Don Humphreys and wife, Lynne; a grandson, Maximus Humphreys, all of Lubbock; a sister, Dorothy Franklin of Amarillo; a brother, Raymond Humphreys and wife, Artie Jewel of Amherst; three sisters-in law, Edith Humphreys of Amherst, Viola Humphreys of Lubbock, and Jeanette Wilson of Ralls; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Cecily Rumbaugh.
