Kay Thiel LUBBOCK-Family and friends will gather from 7 to 8 p.m. for Rosary services for Kay Thiel, followed by a time of fellowship from 8 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church Chapel followed by committal in Resthaven Memorial Park. The Lord took our beloved Kay's hand and called her home on Aug. 15, 2014. To view life and service tributes and leave a memory or thought visit www.memorialdesigners.net. She was born on July 10, 1920, to Elton James and Dora Jane Kirkpatrick in Paul, Idaho. She graduated from Dietrich High School. On Dec. 15, 1937, Kay married Robert William Thiel in Twin Falls, Idaho. They moved to Lubbock in 1941 and began farming. She was an active member at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, serving on the Woman's Alter Society, President of the Lubbock Welcome Wagon Club, and was a member of the Lubbock Women's Club. Later in her life she worked in the jewelry industry. Kay enjoyed art, history, travel, collecting antiques, and was an avid reader. Kay is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Thiel; a son, Dennis Michael Thiel; a grandson, Michael Rupich; a sister, Helen Imgard; and a brother, Ben Kirkpatrick. Survivors include three children, Nadine Rupich of Albuquerque, N.M., Vincent Thiel, and Natanya Suter both of Lubbock; seven grandchildren, Tammy Green and husband, Royce, Tiffiany Burgess and husband, Brian, Stephanie Geyer and husband, Rich, Vincent Thiel, Jr. and wife, April, Tristen Towle and husband, John, Nicole Suter and Ashton Suter; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested for the Evan Thiel Benefit Fund, at City Bank 304 West 1st Street. Idalou TX 79329.
