Julian Shorty Carranza Sr. Mr. Julian Shorty Carranza Sr., 66, of Sinton, Texas, died Oct. 19, 2011, at his sister's home surrounded by family and friends. He was born Jan. 28, 1945, in Sinton, Texas, to the late Ruben and Aurora Lamas Carranza. He was one of six siblings. Julian was a volunteer Fireman in Crosbyton, Texas. He was employed as a truck driver for over 30 years, most recently with Cornell Carriers LLC. He is survived by his sons, Julian Carranza Jr. and Jose (Yvonne) Carranza, both of Lubbock, Texas; daughters, Christina Carranza of Sinton, Texas, and Jennifer Palacios of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandchildren, Ramona Carranza of Colorado Springs, Colo., Cody Carranza and Dakota Chapman of Sinton, Texas, Dustin Carranza of Lubbock, Texas, Karina Lopez of Memphis, Texas, and Jazlyn Palacios of Corpus Christi, Texas; sisters, Simona Reyna, Maria (Alfredo) Gomez and Virginia Gaitan, all of Sinton, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Carranza was preceded in death by his parents; son, Carlos Carranza; grandchildren, Monique Aguirre, Carlos Jose CJ Aguirrre, Nikki Carranza, Tonia Carranza and Renee Carranza; brothers, Luis Carranza and Natividad Nate Carranza; and sister, Amada Perez. A rosary will be held today, Oct. 21, 2011, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Sinton, with Father Shaji Varghese as celebrant. Burial is to follow at Eternal Rest Cemetery, Sinton. Arrangements and care entrusted to Resthaven Funeral Home, Sinton.
