Phyllis S. Duff Phyllis S. Duff was born on Dec. 27th 1924 in Maquoketa, Iowa to John and Amelia Schumacher. She was one of four children and moved to Carson City, Nev. when she was 16. While working at University of Nevada - Reno she met Peter D. Duff who was working there as a ROTC instructor. The two were married on April 28th 1946. Their daughter, Kathy, was born while they were stationed at Sandia Army Base outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 1979 the family moved to Lubbock, Texas where they resided for 30 years, where Phyllis continued her work with Avon as a district manager. She retired from Avon in 1983 and among other things enjoyed playing golf with Pete until he passed away in 1990. Phyllis was a very active member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and loved making baked goods for church events. She also enjoyed socializing and playing bridge and card games with her many friends. To be closer to her daughter, she moved to Dallas, Texas in 2009. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Crocker of Garland, Texas, and grandchildren, Kindra and Sean Crocker from Ariz. She is also survived by her younger sister, Shirley Morehead of Donna, Texas. Services will be held privately among family, where her earthly body will be united again with Pete at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in central Texas.
