Col. Willie Lee Tate STEPHENVILLE-Col. Willie Lee Tate, U.S. Army retired, 96, of Stephenville and Lubbock, died Wednesday, March 14, 2012, in Lubbock. Services will be 2 p.m. today, March 18, 2012, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Stephenville. Burial will be in Oak Dale Cemetery with full military honors. Willie was born on May 19, 1915, to the late Roy L. and Mattie (Owen) Tate in Erath County, Texas. He married Eve Kraft on Nov. 17, 1942, in San Francisco, Calif. She preceded him in death on Feb. 25, 1995. He was a member of the Stephenville Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus, Old Goats Coffee Club and an active supporter of Tarleton State University and Texas Tech University. Survivors include daughters, Marilyn T. Koenitzer and husband Will of Corvallis, Ore., and Carolyn Tate and husband Rick Dingus of Lubbock; grandchildren, Bart Koenitzer of San Francisco, Calif., Kara Tate of Flagstaff, Ariz., Cody and Jennie Dingus and Nikki and Brett Akiyama of Salt Lake City, Utah; great-grandchildren, Maya and Emma Huffman of Flagstaff, Ariz., Jayden Akiyama and Jaxon and Carson Dingus of Salt Lake City, Utah; and 15 cousins and their families.
