Ronald Lee Rushing LUBBOCK- Ronald Lee Rushing, 82, died March 30, 2012 at his home in Houston. Born in Rosebud, Texas January 26, 1932 to Dr. Reginald and Ruth Rea Rushing, he was raised in Lubbock Texas. Ronald, a Lubbock Westerner and Texas Tech class of 1951, received his BS and MBA from Texas Tech University and was active in Kemas fraternity, now Phi Gamma Delta. In 1952, he married Lucille Seybold, who preceded him in death in 2007. Ronald was an officer in the US Air Force. His early business career included positions with CPA firm Edwin E. Merriman & Co., Shell Oil Company and Hemphill Wells. He started his career in medical and hospital administration at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock (now Covenant Medical Systems). In 1967, he joined Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in Houston. He co-authored two books The Management of Medical Practice and The Organization and Development of a Medical Group Practice. In the 1980s, he went into private CPA practice from which he retired in 2009. He was the second of three generations of CPAs in the Rushing family. In addition to his wife, Lucille, Ronald was preceded in death by daughters, Rebecca Jane and Lou Ann, and his loyal companions Fido and Gizmo. He is survived by his son, Ron and daughter, Susan; their spouses, Helen and Bill Shenkir; six grandchildren, John, Jackson, Connally, Shannon, AliAnn, and Austin; as well as extended family members and dear friends. Ronald spent his 82 years defining integrity. Those who knew him were charmed by the respect he commanded as a result of the respect he afforded others. He loved to see his grandchildren perform on stage, court, and field. His good humor and enthusiasm for life touched us all. Nothing came before his family and pets.
