Harry L. Grimes SEAGRAVES- Harry L. Grimes , 93, long-time resident of Seagraves, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012 in North Richland Hills, Texas. He was born July 27, 1918 to Walter and Nicey Grimes in Grant Okla. He moved to Seagraves in his early 20s where he met and married Thelma Shrum on May 18, 1940. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. From 1942-1945 serving in the Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Dargue as part of the 2nd Air Craft Repair Floating Unit, where his unit earned two battle stars for service in the battles of Saipan and Iwo Jima. After the war, he returned to Seagraves where he owned & operated various service stations. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a volunteer fireman in Seagraves for over 25 years. He loved to fish, work crossword puzzles, and he always had a vegetable garden. He was preceded in death by Thelma, his wife of 65 years. Survivors include daughters, Shirley Edwards of Midland and Linda Williams and husband Larry of Trophy Club; two grandsons and their wives, Kevin and Kelly Edwards of Plano and Shane and Kari Lewis of Trophy Club; and five great-grandchildren, Avery, Cade and Judson Lewis, and Jessalyn and Robert Edwards. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Seagraves. Interment will be in the Gaines County Cemetery in Seagraves under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Seagraves In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made to the Seagraves Senior Citizens, PO Box 584, Seagraves, Texas 79359 or the First Baptist Church of Seagraves.
