James Shewbert Obituary

James Ealem Shewbert AMARILLO-James Ealem Shewbert, 38, died Wednesday, May 16, 2012, in Missouri City, Texas. He was born April 3, 1974, in Englewood, Colo., to Kenneth and Sue Bayless Shewbert. He attended South Georgia Elementary, Fannin Jr. High, and graduated from Caprock High School in 1992. While at Caprock, he excelled in computer-aided drafting, winning two consecutive Best in Nation awards from the Technology Bowl. He received a bachelor's degree in general studies from Texas Tech in 1997 and a master's in science from Tech in 2001. At the time of his death, he was an advisory software engineer for IBM. He is survived by his beloved partner, Marcus Hilliard of Missouri City; his father and stepmother, Kenneth and Derenda Shewbert of Boerne; his aunt, Jessica Bayless of Lebanon, Okla.; his uncle and aunt, Gary and Phyllis Shewbert of Amarillo; Marcus' parents, Gregg and Liz Hannah of El Paso; and by dear friends, Nathanael Haddox, Frank Ramos Jr. and Linda Gregston of Lubbock, Regina Sandoval of Phoenix, Ariz., Elizabeth Restat and Doug and Jan Love of Austin, and Pat Knight of Amarillo. Burial will be in Lebanon, Okla., Friday, May 25, 2012, at 10 a.m. Services will be held Saturday, May 26, 2012, at 11 a.m. in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Children's Chapel, 1601 S. Georgia, Amarillo, Texas with the Reverend Pat Knight officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family graciously suggests memorial contributions be made to M.D. Anderson ([email protected]). I am saddened to hear of James passing. He was a distant cousin and we kept in touch as he was a client. He was a delight on the phone and I always enjoyed his emails. When my father passed in 1999 he sent a plant that is still alive. God bless his family and friends.
