Benson Achare Egbe LUBBOCK-Benson Achare Egbe, 56, Cameroon, Africa, passed away on Oct. 12, 2012. He was born on Oct. 27, 1956, to Charles and Lydia Egbe. Benson attended and graduated from Texas Tech University with a B.A. in political science and sociology. He received a master's degree in psychology and law enforcement from Laredo State University. He was employed as a parole office for 20 years and worked various other jobs until he retired in 2010. Benson was preceded in death by his father, brother and younger sister. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 29 years, Mae Egbe; one son, Jerry Egbe; stepdaughter, Chandra M. Piper; stepgrandsons, Damien Johnson Jr. and Christian J.B. Piper; four sisters-in-law, Carolyn Sheffield (Julius), Lee Porch, Linda Dee and Glenda Taylor; two brothers-in-law, Richard Porch Jr. and Johnny L. Porch; a special friend, Dawn Marie; and a host of other relatives and friends. Celebration of life services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, in Peaceful Garden Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitation will be held today from 1 to 6 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary.
