Mary Nickel LUBBOCK- Mary Jeannette Roberson Nickel, 65, of Lubbock passed into the waiting arms of our Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 4, 2012. Mary was born January 28, 1947 to the late Bessie Warden and Vernon Wimberly in Bernalillo County, New Mexico. She was stepdaughter to the late James Becton Roberson. She married Billy W. Chitty of Lawton, Oklahoma and later CD Nickel of Lake Mackenzie, Texas. She had many occupations throughout the years finally settling on Nursing. She earned her Licensed Vocational Nurse degree in 1987 and practiced nursing until 1997 when she retired. She was passionate about caring for the elderly in the nursing home setting and worked tirelessly to ensure they received the best care she could deliver. She loved gardening, sewing, oil painting, the lake and any activities with her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her belly full of fire, amazing sense of humor and complete dedication to her children. She is survived by her three children of Lubbock, a son, Billy J. Chitty, daughter, Dawn Robinson and husband Charlie, and daughter, Nikki Davis; as well as six grandchildren, David, Jamie, Jason, Grey, Bo, Shelby Dawn; and one great grandson, Brixon. Mary donated her body to the Texas Tech School of Medicine Willed Body Program in hopes to help the future of medicine and healthcare.
