Ira Jeter Jr. LAMESA-Funeral services for Ira Jeter Jr., 92, of Lamesa will be held on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Welch with Brother Jody O'Briant officiating. Burial will follow in Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Ira passed away on Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, in Lamesa. He was born on Sept. 23, 1920, in Gaines County to Ira and Sarah (Cox) Jeter. He married Denver Modine Truitt on Jan. 5, 1943, in Los Angeles, Calif. Ira served in the United States Army Air Corp from 1942 until 1945. He was a farmer and also drove a maintainer for Dawson County. He was a member and a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Welch. He is survived by his wife, Denver; two daughters, Terrie and husband James Pierce of Lamesa, and Vickie and husband Ron Goulette of Shallowater; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Ira was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy Farmer; a brother, R.C. Jeter; and two nephews, Mackie Jeter and Michael Farmer.
