Virginia Sleeper LEVELLAND- Mass of Resurrection for Virginia Grace Sleeper, 91, of Levelland, Texas will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, November 23, 2012, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Levelland with Rev. Rudolf Crasta and Rev. Gerald Leatham officiating. Holy Rosary will be recited 6 p.m. Thursday, November 22, 2012 at George Price Funeral Home in Levelland. Graveside services and burial will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas. Services are under the direction of George Price Funeral Directors. Virginia passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born September 24, 1921 in Waco, Texas, to Felix Emile and Grace Hill Robinson Mistrot. She graduated from Waco High School and attended Baylor University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech and French. She married U.S. Navy Ensign Richard Lee Dick Sleeper in Hollywood, Fla., July 16, 1944. In their 53 years of marriage, they lived throughout West Texas before moving to Snyder, Texas where they lived 26 years. Richard preceded her in death in 1997. The couple raised four children, Margaret, Richard Lee, Jr., Kathryn and Emmalie. Virginia taught in public schools in San Benito and Monahans, Texas. She devoted her life to her family and friends and was known for her warm, ingratiating spirit and her ability to make those around her feel they were special. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and her brothers, Hill Mistrot and Col. Ralph Mistrot, USAF. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Lee Sleeper and wife Kathy of Bullard, Texas; daughters, Margaret Potting and husband Rick of Arvada, Colo., Kathy Moore and husband Robert of Jonestown, Texas, and Emmalie John and husband Stephen of Levelland, Texas; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
