Charlie Spring DIMMITT-Charlie Spring, 76, of Dimmitt passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, in Amarillo. A family gathering will take place on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Charlie was born Sept. 25, 1936, in Columbus, Ohio, to Elmo Deland and Geneva Ramey Spring. He grew up in Hillard, Ohio, and attended school there, graduating high school. He was selected as an All-State basketball player while in high school. He attended Ohio State University. He lived on a farm and showed dairy cattle, and was well known for his dairy cattle. He was a sheriff for Franklin County in Ohio, and a firefighter and paramedic for the city of Hillard, Ohio. He married Suellen Sue Stange in November of 1977. He served in the United States Navy for four years. He came to Dimmitt in 1981 and farmed. He then went to work for the Highway Department and Cargill hauling cattle, and he also hauled dairy cattle. His hobbies included watching Ohio State football, showing horses, and he never met a stranger. He was an avid NASCAR fan. He is survived by his wife, Sue Spring of Dimmitt; his mother, Geneva Spring of Powell, Ohio; two sons, Gary Spring and his wife Terri, and Dale Spring and his wife Jeanetta, all of Powell, Ohio; one daughter, Kim Spring and her husband Bobby Newman of Ft. Worth, Texas; a cousin, Bonnie Anderson of Mt. Sterling, Ohio; a family friend, Alice Spring of Powell, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Zach and Kylie Spring, and Salvator CaraDonna, all of Powell, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his father, Elmo Deland Spring; an infant twin brother, Chester Spring; and his uncle and aunt, Kenneth and Ida Mae Spring.
