Mary Elizabeth Caraway Clements LUBBOCK- Mary Elizabeth Caraway Clements, 94, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 12 noon. She was born in Lubbock on October 27, 1918 to Sidney James Caraway and Almira Hortense Hearn, both from Lubbock pioneer families. Her grandfather, John Keithley Caraway, homesteaded in 1891 at what is now Market Street on 50th St. Mary lived in Lubbock most of her life, graduating from Lubbock High School and Draughons Business College, where she mastered shorthand which she used her entire life. She was personnel director for the Lubbock Veteran's Administration where she met her husband of 49 years, Judson Clements, a VA attorney and retired army Colonel. Mary gave up the job she loved to devote herself to raising two sons. She managed both residential and commercial rental properties for many years. Mary enjoyed flower arranging and won many ribbons at the Garden and Arts Center. She was passionate about bridge and was a Life Master. Mary thoroughly enjoyed her friends at the Bridge Center, where she was known for her witty and dry humor. Her childhood dream, traveling the world, was realized in her later years. She is survived by son, Judson Sidney Clements, wife Ann McManus Clements, and their children, Jonathan and Mary of Boone, N.C.; son, John Robert Clements of Lubbock; five nieces; and one nephew. She was preceded in death by husband, Judson Irvine Clements; daughter-in-law, Janine Mendheim Clements; sister, Billie Louise Trotter; and nephew, Raleigh F. Trotter. Visitation will be at Sanders Funeral Home from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2012. A graveside service conducted by Pastor Keith Garner will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Resthaven Memorial Park.
