Velma L. McGaw LUBBOCK- Velma L. McGaw, 91, of Lubbock passed away Friday, December 14, 2012, after a lengthy illness. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the City of Lubbock Cemetery, with Father Larry Hemp of Slaton officiating. Services are under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors. Born April 23, 1921 in Latexo, Texas, to Alfred A. and Mary Ellen Turner King, she married E. C. McGaw on June 9, 1937 in Austin, Texas. She moved to Lubbock in 1937 and graduated from Lubbock High School. She was a member of the Highland Baptist Church. Velma was preceded in death by her Husband, E.C., on August 13, 1971, and her parents. She is survived by two sons, Steven McGaw of Lubbock and Carey McGaw of Austin; daughter, Pat Brown of Lubbock; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
