Margaret Sheffield Lutherer LUBBOCK- Born January 9, 1950 in Dallas to parents Roy and Bette Sheffield, Margaret Marie (Peggy) Sheffield Lutherer passed away on December 12, 2012. She grew up in Lubbock, where she graduated from Monterey High School. Margaret graduated from Southern Methodist University with a degree in English, a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. She received a Masters of American Literature and a Doctorate of American Literature from Penn State University. Dr. Lutherer was the Executive Director of the Office of News and Publications from 1987 and the Director of Communications of the Office of the President of Texas Tech University from 1996 until 2008. Among many civic activities, she was a founding member of the University Public Arts Committee and the University Public Image Committee. She served as President of the Board of the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra in 2002. She married Dr. Lorenz O. Lutherer in December, 1992. They are the parents of three sons, Brian N. Allen (Kelly) of Tulsa, Okla., Benjamin B. Simon (Andreia) of Austin, and Scott S. Simon of Lubbock. She is also survived by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Roy S. Sheffield of Georgetown; her sister, Jane Sheffield Lowery of Vail, Colo.; brothers, Brian B. Sheffield of Austin and Roy S. (Bucky) Sheffield, Jr. of Portland, Ore.; and two grandchildren, Sara E. Allen and Andrew J. Allen of Tulsa. There will be a celebration of Peggy's life at the International Culture Center on January 3, 2013 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the
