Mary Emma Grace ANTON- Mary Emma Grace, 97, of Anton, died Monday, December 24, 2012, in Lubbock. Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 in Resthaven Cemetery, Lubbock. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 at First United Methodist Church in Anton with Rev. Ruby Moultrie officiating. Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home in Littlefield. Mary Emma Shockley was born in Goree, Texas on October 17, 1915 to William and Myrtice Shockley. She moved to Anton in 1925 with her parents and brothers, Amos, Rudolph, Jarred and Dorman. She graduated in 1932 from Anton High School and married Jack Grace on December 24, 1932. Her father passed away in 1931 and her mother passed in 1935, leaving her and Jack to raise her younger brother, Dorman. Mary Emma passed away on December 24, 2012, which would have been her 80th wedding anniversary with Jack, who preceded her in death in 1972. Mary Emma served on the board of SPAG, was a member of the Lubbock Garden Club serving as a flower judge for the South Plains Fair for 31 years, served as city councilwoman and mayor of Anton for numerous years. She was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Anton where she taught Sunday School. She is survived by her brother, Jarred Shockley of Lubbock; her only child, Kenneth Grace of Anton; three grandsons, Mark, Matt and Charles; three great-granddaughters; and four great-great-grandchildren.
