Manuel Vargas LUBBOCK- Prayer services for Manuel Vargas, 85, of Lubbock will be today at 7:30 p.m. in Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 3 p.m. in the Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Gonzales officiating. Cremation will be under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home and Chapel. Manuel passed away on Tuesday December 25, 2012 in Lubbock. He was born on October 1, 1927 in Ballinger, Texas to Manuel V. and Clara Vargas. He married Isabel Vasquez on May 7, 1945 in Lubbock. He was pastor of Mission Pentecostal before retiring, and had served as associate pastor at Iglesia De La Fe before. He was a life long resident of Lubbock. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Daniel Vargas, Abel Vargas, Hermenia Vela, Victor Vargas, Rodolfo Vargas, Juan Vargas, Sara Vargas and Jobita Lopez. Survivors include his wife of Lubbock; two sons, Daniel Vargas of Port Huememe, Calif., and Peter Vargas of Lubbock; three daughters Rosa V. Gonzales of Dallas, Olga Rodriquez and Edna Rodriguez both of Lubbock; a sister, Clara Dominguez of Dumas, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
