Thelma Scott LUBBOCK-Thelma Scott, 91, passed from this life on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013. We are so grateful for the Lord's Heaven, and that He has received her there after a long fruitful life. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. this Monday evening, Jan. 7, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. We will celebrate her life at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Southcrest Baptist Church. Thelma will be laid to rest in Spur, where she loved to call home, on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 11 a.m. A tribute to Mrs. Scott may be found at www.memorialdesigners.net, where you may leave memories and expressions of sympathy for her family. Thelma, one of 10 children, was born on Oct. 1, 1921, to W.A. and Estelle Kimmel. She graduated from Spur High School in 1939. Thelma was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone for 35 years and retired as treasury cashier. She married Charles H. Scott, who preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 1981. Thelma's hobby was being an historian; that included pictorial albums of family, church and friend's celebrations and events. She deeply loved her son and family. Thelma had been a member of Southcrest Baptist Church since 1960, and was active with the Jolly Elders. She took great joy in the ministry of baking and delivering hundreds of cakes over the years to the sick, parents of newborns, birthdays, and other special events. Survivors include her son, Gary Scott and his wife, Cathie, and grandchildren, Robyn and Roxanne Scott. The Scott family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the Building Fund at Southcrest Baptist Church, 3801 South Loop 289, Lubbock, TX 79423, or the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 2785, Lubbock, TX 79408.
