Mary L. Ellerd Mary L. Ellerd, 85, went to be with her heavenly Father on Jan. 4, 2013, in St. Louis, Mo. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, in Gaines County Cemetery in Seagraves with Mr. James Kinnard officiating. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. Personal services have been entrusted to Mark A. Jones Funeral Directors of Seagraves. Mary was born on Aug. 2, 1927, to John and Bernice Parrish Digby in Howard County, Texas. Mary married the love of her life, Joseph O. Ellerd JoeBoy, on May 12, 1944. He preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 1994. Mary and Joe Boy moved to Seagraves in 1952, where they took over the Ellerd Furniture Store. When they later closed the store, Mary opened her own upholstery business. After retiring, she and JoeBoy started wood carving. Their carvings were done with love and given to family and friends. In 2007, she moved to Carlsbad, N.M., to live with her son, Keith. In August 2012, she moved to St. Louis, Mo. Her family remembers her love in helping others. She was a member of 12th Street Church of Christ in Seagraves and Southside Church of Christ in Carlsbad, N.M. Those left to cherish her memories are two sons, Kenneth Ellerd and wife Mary of Colorado, and Keith Ellerd of New Mexico; one daughter, Jo Denna Crump and husband Jerry of Missouri; and three sisters, Peggy Rose of Texas, Betty Grace of Louisiana and Virginia of California. She was also blessed with nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Marilyn Cole, in October 2005; three brothers; two sisters; and two grandchildren.
