Louis Berl Goldston BIG SPRING-Louis Berl Goldston, 88, of Big Spring, passed away on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 at the Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home in Big Spring, where he had been a resident since Nov. 2009. Louis was born on March 20, 1924, in Roby, Texas, to William Melvin and Alva Rena (Ridgway) Goldston. He later attended schools in Tokio and Brownfield. He joined the United States Navy and served during World War II. He went on to a 30-year career in the Navy and Naval Reserve, retiring to Crane, Ind. He was a member of VFW Post 9297. Louis married Lorene Effie Sasser on Dec. 3, 1960 in San Diego, Calif. She preceded him in death on Feb. 26, 2005. He was also preceded in death by seven sisters and six brothers. Survivors include one brother, Oliver Goldston and wife Wilma of Lake Brownwood; and many nieces and nephews. He will be inurned at the Sasser Family Cemetery in London, Ky., under the direction of Bowling Funeral Home of London, Ky. Local arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
