Mary Campbell AMARILLO-Mary Ethel Patsy Campbell, 95, died Jan. 24, 2013. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, in St. Mary's Cathedral with Msgr. Harold Waldow as celebrant. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo, Texas. Patsy Campbell was born in Dallas, Texas, on July 6, 1917, the daughter of Ethel Hughes and E.J. Ward Gannon. She attended the University of Texas and was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She married William D. Campbell on Nov. 7, 1941, and lived in Dallas. She was a member of the Dallas Junior League. During World War II, she worked at Lockheed and then accompanied her husband to various Army bases where she served as an Army nurse. After the war, she and her husband moved to Amarillo in 1947 where she was a member of the Amarillo Junior League and active in the Amarillo Art Force, Amarillo Symphony, Garden Club, the Amarillo Opera and other civic organizations. She was instrumental in founding the Globe News Center for the Performing Arts and was a recipient of the Golden Nail Award for her contribution to the arts. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Campbell, Dec. 12, 2008; her brother, E. J. Gannon; and her sisters, Jean Hunt and Lupe Murchison. Survivors include William Dabney Campbell Jr. and wife Shirley, Patricia Tish Johnson and husband Tom, Ward Gannon Campbell, Priscilla Snow and husband Warren; 10 grandchildren, William Gannon Campbell, Brooke Mary Perry, Hunter Campbell, Cameron Campbell, Shad Campbell, Courtney Campbell, William Campbell III, Preston Snow, Diane Snow Hooper and Alex Snow; and five great-grandchildren.
