James Pete Wheeler LUBBOCK-Graveside services with military honors for James Pete Wheeler, 87, of Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, in the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Memorial services will follow at Christ Lutheran Church, 7801 Indiana Ave., with the Rev. Corey Grunklee officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Sanders Funeral Home. Pete passed away on Jan. 27, 2013. Pete was born Dec. 25, 1925, in Graham, Texas, to John and Maureene Wheeler. A day after graduating from Graham High School, Pete enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. During his service, he was a radio operator in the Pacific military campaign. He returned to the States and graduated from Texas Tech University. While attending Texas Tech, Pete met Pat Hensley; they were married on Aug. 31, 1948. During his work career, he was a chemical sales representative. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Loved ones include his wife; son, Ronnie Wheeler and wife, Yelena; son, Rickie Wheeler; and four grandchildren.
