Christene O. Jackson SLATON-Services for Christene Jackson, 85, of Slaton will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, in Englunds Chapel with Elder Kenny Venable and Bro. Chris Downer officiating. Burial will follow in Englewood Cemetery under the guidance of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. Christene was born Oct.11, 1927, in Marlow, Okla. She passed from this life Feb. 6, 2013. Her family moved to the Crosbyton area when she was a child and later to Muleshoe. Christene married Ancil Jackson on Dec. 24, 1942, in Muleshoe. Ancil preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 1995. She and Ancil moved to Slaton in 1975, when they bought and operated Slaton Upholstery until retiring in 1995. She was a member of the Lubbock Primitive Baptist Church and an active member at Slaton's Senior Citizens Center. Christene resided at Slaton Care Center, where she was loved by all. Siblings O.W. Floyd, Austin Floyd and Pauline Allen preceded her in death. Her survivors include her children, Earl Jackson, Orval Jackson and Judy Jackson, all of Lubbock, and Trudie Jackson of Mabank, Texas, along with four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family will have visitation at the funeral home today from 6 to 7 p.m. The family suggests memorials to Slaton's Meals on Wheels, 230 West Lynn, Slaton, TX 79364, or in her name.
