Herbert H. Gast LUBBOCK-Services for Mr. Herbert H. Gast will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Ford Chapel, in Lubbock, Texas, with interment to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Herbert was born Aug. 17, 1918, in Webster, S.D. He was a World War II Army veteran, earning the combat infantryman's badge in recognition of his courage and ability as a soldier. He served his country at Guadalcanal and the Solomon islands. His occupations included farming, working for REA, and mineral mining. Mr. Gast is survived by his wife of 68 years; a son, Noel of Aberdeen, Wash.; a daughter, Judy Harms of Dexter, Mich.; a son, Keith of Lubbock; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Laura Gast; two sisters, Irene and Evelyn; and a grandson, Ellis.
