Claude Spencer Weaver LITTLEFIELD-Claude Spencer Weaver, 93, of Littlefield died Feb. 10, 2013, in Lubbock. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at Crescent Park Church of Christ in Littlefield with Paul Burton, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Littlefield Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Hammons Funeral Home of Littlefield. Claude was born Aug. 1, 1919, in Clarksville, Texas. He was the third of seven children born to W.G. and Ethel Weaver. In 1929, the Weaver family moved to Brinkman, Okla., where Claude graduated from Brinkman High School and married his high school sweetheart, Lorayne Dowdy, in 1941. In 1943 they moved to Richmond, Calif., where they lived for 37 years before moving to Littlefield in 1980. Claude worked at the shipyards during World War II. After the war, he worked as a manager for a grocery store chain until his retirement in 1980. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards and dominoes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorayne, in 2003; an infant son, David Allen Weaver, in 1951; his parents, W. G. and Ethel Weaver; two brothers, Alfred Weaver and Wilburn Weaver; and two sisters, Pauline Hopper and Juanita Miller. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Feb. 13, 2013. He is survived by two sisters, Oleta Hooks of Vallejo, Calif., and Margaret Moffeit of Mangum, Okla.; a brother-in-law, Don Dowdy of Amarillo, Texas; and 23 nieces and nephews.
