Carol Rae McDonald LUBBOCK-Carol Rae McDonald, 81, surrounded by family and friends, departed this life on Feb. 20, 2013, to begin a new life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Born Carol Rae Lockard on Jan. 10, 1932, in Norton, Kan., to Loyal and Carmen Lockard, she was a loving mother, grandmother and wife. She was a member of the Sunset Church of Christ and eternally grateful for the spiritual companionship she found there. Following graduation from Norton High School, Carol worked as a bank teller in Denver, Colo., where she met the love of her life, Daniel Rufus McDonald, on a bus returning home. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Daniel; and infant daughter, Sarah. Blessed with a sharp wit and dry humor, Carol would often test and challenge those she loved. She is survived by daughter, Kathryn D. Carroll (Randy) of Lubbock; sons, Todd (Vickie) of Dothan, Ala., and Scott (Sarah) of Shallowater; granddaughters, Madison and Taylor; grandsons Connor and Daniel; stepgranddaughter, Allison; and stepgrandson, Andrew. Visitation will be held today, Feb. 22, 2013, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, at 1 p.m. in the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
