Gerald Euel Piper PADUCAH-Church services for Gerald Euel Piper, 87, of Paducah will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 16, 2013, at the First Christian Church in Paducah. Interment will follow in Guthrie Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home of Paducah. Gerald went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Thursday afternoon, March 14, 2013, at the Paducah Nursing Center under Childress Regional Medical Center Hospice Care. G.E. (or fondly called Grundy or Bear) Piper was born on Mary 12, 1925, in Delwin, Texas, to John and Sadie (Cowart) Piper. He grew up in King County, receiving his early education at the Grow School. He served with the United States Navy during World War II stationed at Pearl Harbor. Following his discharge, he worked on various ranches before entering the farming/ranching and trucking business. Gerald married Doris Stephen on March 2, 1951, in Plainview, Texas, and they celebrated 61 years of marriage before her death in 2012. Gerald was a member and deacon of the First Christian Church. He was active in Farmer's Union, the American Agriculture Movement, a 4-H Horse Club Leader and a member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars and the Texas Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. Gerald is survived by his son, Steve and wife Delisa Piper of Paducah; his daughter, Jane and husband Ronnie Ray of Stephenville; two grandsons, Jay (Marybeth) Burns and Cade Piper; five stepgrandchildren, Shawna Ray, Billy Jack Ray, Tiffany (Caleb) Seal, Tara (Jay) Sandusky and Tess (Jordan) McCown; two grandchildren, Harley and Ely Burns; five stepgrandchildren, Gavin, Payton and Haven Seal, and Jarek and Audra Sandusky; and one sister, Martha Creech Riley of Paducah. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; stepfather, B. Creech; four elder brothers, Arb, Wayne, Dayne and Toar Piper; and two younger sisters, Hilda Mae Piper and Mary Creech Stinnet.
