My sympathy goes to the Evans family. I went to school with Buddy Holly, LHS class of '55. My husband was a backup singer on "The Chirping Crickets" LP. He and his brother knew Waylon. I feel sure that they met Gene. Sorry to hear another member of the magic days of music that came out of Lubbock in the 1950s and 60s is gone. My condolences to my cousins regarding their brother Gene's passing.

I remember well the Dees family get-togethers with my dad, J.C, and many of my other uncles sitting around, pickin' and harmonizing.

Gene carried on that musical tradition on behalf of the Dees family.

Although I never had a chance to sit down and share notes with Gene, I was always well aware of his accomplishments in life.

Well done, Gene.
