Elizabeth Hudson LUBBOCK- Elizabeth Ann Hudson, age 83, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013 in Lubbock. She was born July 14, 1929 in Elyria, Ohio, to Dr. Oscar and Georgia Townsend. Liz grew up in the Cleveland area and attended Arizona State University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language. After college she worked four years for the U.S. Foreign Service in the La Paz, Bolivia, and Rome, Italy, embassies. On March 21, 1960, she married Dr. Frank Hudson, PhD, in Silver Spring, Maryland. They located to Lubbock in 1960 where Liz started her family and taught adult literacy basic education, Head Start, and elementary education in the LISD. She taught for many years at Iles and Stewart Elementary Schools. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and loved to sing in the choir and attend music performances with her close friends. After retirement, as a part of her compassion for others, she tutored English to foreign students. Liz is survived by her husband, Frank of Lubbock; a sister, Virginia Townsend, of Tempe, Ariz.; a son, David Hudson and wife Susan of Amarillo; a daughter, Kathleen Hudson of Lubbock; a step-grandson, James Denholm and wife Melanie of Austin; a grandson, Brian Hudson of Denver, Colo.; and a granddaughter, Sara Hudson of San Marcos. Memorial services will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church, on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Davis Price officiating. The family wishes to express its gratitude to the Garrison Geriatric Center staff and the Hospice of Lubbock staff, which provided loving care and support for Liz.
