Marie Cooks LUBBOCK -Marie Cooks, 91, was born on Feb. 6, 1922 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Thomas and Amerkie Ross. She died July 26, 2013 after a short illness. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn M. Cooks; her parents; and two brothers, Jimmy D. Ross and Johnny Lee Ross; four sisters, Rhodia C. Anders, Veola Leggett, Ruth B. Mathis, Florence M. Harris. Marie was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on Sept. 7, 1958 and served him faithfully for over 55 years, serving over 35 of those years as a full-time minister. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Glenn Ross (Claudette); grandchildren, Brandon (Gunilla) and Ja'Net Ross; great-grandchildren, Seric Ross and ShaVont'e Williams all of Lubbock; and a sister, Willie B. Nash of The Colony, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends. A memorial of Marie's life will be held at the East Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1907 E. 13th Street, Lubbock, Texas, on Aug. 1, 2013 at 2 p.m.
