Roy Allen Sons LUBBOCK-The memorial service for Roy Allen Sons, 76, of Lubbock, Texas, is Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Cooper United Methodist Church in Woodrow, Texas, with the Rev. Joseph Fly officiating. Roy went to meet his Lord and Savior on Jan. 18, 2014. He was born May 13, 1937, to Arthur and Bernice Sons in Woodville, Okla. Roy graduated Abernathy High School in 1956 and married his high school sweetheart, Lenora Wilson, on Dec. 7, 1957. In 1955, Roy was the first leg of the Abernathy High School mile relay team, which won the relay posting the time of 3:23, a new state record that held for seven years. Roy served his country as a Marine in the United States Marine Corps from 1957 to 1963, honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. Roy was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years in February of 2012. He is survived by his children, Todd Sons of Lubbock, Texas, Lanau Limmer of Lubbock, Texas, Michelle Kunkel and husband Roy of Lamesa, Texas; grandchildren, Kurt Limmer of Lubbock, Texas, Clint Kunkel of Lamesa, Texas, Kevin Kunkel and wife Shelli of Lamesa, Texas, Cary Kunkel and wife Jaesei of Lubbock, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Shaine Marie Kunkel and Cannon Scott. Memorials to Cooper United Methodist Church, 16612 Loop 493, Lubbock, TX 79423 are gratefully appreciated.
