Our beloved mother, Gran, and sister, Carrell Anne went to be with the Lord on Feb. 3, 2014. Carrell Anne was born on Jan. 30, 1945, to the late John and Carrell (Morgan) Briscoe in Beeville, Texas. She graduated from Beeville High School. Moving to Lubbock, Carrell Anne graduated from Texas Tech University with her bachelor's degree and was a Zeta Tau Alpha. She then moved to Arkansas and received her Master's degree in Education from the University of Arkansas. Carrell Anne married Jim Childress on Dec. 28, 1966, and they lived in Lubbock, where she taught high school English at Roosevelt for over 20 years. After her retirement in 2000, Carrell Anne substituted for LISD. She was a very active member of the PEO, serving on their council, Chapter FJ, where she served as secretary, the Zeta Tau Alpha Alumni, Texas Tech Alumni Association, and the First United Methodist Church. Carrell Anne enjoyed travelling, and her annual Beeville Girls reunion. She was an avid Texas Tech sports fan and over the years became a Bon Jovi fan. Those left to cherish her memories are her two sons, Chris Childress and wife Jacqueline of Irving, and Kevin Childress and wife Agnes of San Antonio; two grandchildren, Avery and Cameron Childress of Irving; and a brother, Terry Briscoe and wife Ruth of Lubbock. Memorial contributions may be made in Carrell Anne s memory to the First United Methodist Church, 1411 Broadway, Lubbock, TX 79401.
