Robert H. George MORTON-Church services for Robert H. George, 80, of Morton, Texas, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at First Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Michael Jannise of Morton officiating. Burial will be in Morton Memorial Cemetery. Robert died June 22, 2014 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born Sept. 25, 1933 in Tulia, Texas, to W.C. and Olive Nell (Wyrick) George. He married Bobbie Jones in Morton on Dec. 10, 1964. Robert moved to Morton from the Kress community in 1959. He served in the United States Army, and was a court reporter. He enjoyed woodworking and could build anything. He loved reading and watching Westerns. Robert loved being around people, and he was a close friend of the Buffalo Soldiers. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and six brothers. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie; a son, Randy George and his wife, Linda of Morton, Texas; a daughter, Cindy Cherry and her husband, Butch of Lumberton, Texas; a sister, Carol Barrett of Ft Worth, Texas; two brothers, Ben George of Hurst, Texas, and Tommy George of Kress, Texas; four grandchildren, Daniel and Hannah Cherry of Lumberton, Texas, and Andrew and Adrienne George of Morton, Texas.
