Gladys Cox Snodgrass LUBBOCK-Gladys Cox Snodgrass, 104, passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015. A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Keith Wiseman officiating. It will be a joint service honoring Gladys and her daughter, Janice Crockett, who passed away four days after her death. Gladys Snodgrass was born at home in Killeen, Texas, on Oct. 5, 1911, as the 4th child of Jesse Cox and Hester Carlisle Cox. She graduated from Brownfield High School at 15 and enrolled in Texas Technological College where she met and married William Weldon Snodgrass on June 2, 1929. She completed BS and MEd degrees there. Gladys taught 4th grade in Union, Whiteface and Lubbock (George C. Wolfarth and Stewart) for 26 years. In retirement, she and Weldon enjoyed travel and attending grandchildren's activities. They visited over 24 countries and every state in the USA. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Gladys is survived by a son, Jerrell and daughter-in-law, Donna; son-in-law Sam Crockett; grandchildren, Tami Bopp (Bill), Careyn Henslee, Lee Ann Evans, Cindy Webb (Ron), Will Snodgrass; great-grandchildren, Ryan Owen (Emily), Regan Owen (Hillary), Lauren Ashley, Jenifer Peck (Steven), Amanda Henslee, Abby Evans, Marshall Evans, Ty Webb, Drew Webb; and great-great-granddaughter, Maudie Owen. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Weldon; an infant daughter, Francis Ann; and a 16 year old granddaughter, Mary Jane Snodgrass. Memorial contributions may be made to the Everliving Trust at First United Methodist Church.
