Memorial services for David Joshua 'Jolly' Horton, 32, of Lufkin, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2013 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Nathan Pannell officiating. David was born January 14, 1981 in Lufkin, Texas and passed away Monday, September 23, 2013 at his residence. David worked in the construction business as a fence builder. He played the guitar and wrote music. He enjoyed airsoft games, building fences, building model kits and robotics. David also enjoyed his family celebrations and family time at the lake. Survivors include his wife, Kristie Horton of Lufkin; daughter, Ashlyn Nicole Alsbrooks of Lufkin; mother, Brenda Holland of Burgaw, North Carolina; father, Levi Horton, Jr. of Lufkin; brothers, Levi Horton III and wife Denica 'Peanut' of Cleveland, Georgia and James Horton, Sr. and wife Shelia of Hudson; sisters, Robbie Newkirk and husband Michael of Willard, North Carolina, Mary Katherine Horton and husband Frank White of Lufkin and Brenda Kathleen Horton of Wilson, North Carolina; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Donna and Steve Alsbrooks of Hudson; sister-in-law, April Arrington and husband Reggie of Huntington; brother-in-law, Dustin Alsbrooks and wife Leslie of Hudson; 28 nieces and nephews; a number of other family members and friends; and dogs, Buster and Baby Girl. David was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, David A. Towers and Mary Ellen Towers; paternal grandparents, Levi Horton, Sr. and Ida Dess Horton; and grandmother-in-law, Virginia Sumrall.
