Visitation for Frank James Monson, 85, will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013 in the Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home. Graveside will be for family at Greenlawn Memorial in Port Arthur, Texas. Frank James Monson was born January 4, 1928 in Port Arthur and died Friday, April 26, 2013. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School Class of January 1947. He enlisted and served in the United States Army
from 1952 to 1954, having spent 18 months in Germany. He worked for Coca-Cola and then Frito Lay for 20 years. He retired to Zavalla in 1975 and ran the camp store for 10 years at Caney Creek on Lake Sam Rayburn. He then moved to Lufkin in 1986, where he worked for Mac Tools for several years, then was employed at Walmart as a greeter in the garden center. He enjoyed fishing and playing '42' with his buddies and dominoes with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Vera Ellerbee Monson. He has two sons and daughters-in-law, Rodney and Paula Monson of Katy, TX and Kyle and Connie Monson of Lufkin; and daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Bill Sworn of Nacogdoches; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother. We would like to express our appreciation for the loving kindness and support of Pinecrest Retirement Community and Hospice in the Pines.
