Pat Townsend

A memorial service for Patricia Ann Townsend, PhD, will be held Sunday February 3, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Pollok Baptist Church with Officiants Brother Joe Carriere and Dr. Darryl Smith. Interment will follow at the Gann Cemetery. Pat Townsend was born May 25, 1933 in Lufkin, Texas, to Paul M. Townsend and Clifford (Carson) Townsend. After a life exceptionally lived, Pat departed this life on January 16, 2013 in Johnson Creek, Wisconsin. Cremation services were provided by the Nitardy Funeral Home, Whitewater, WI. Pat was a scholar, educator, world traveler, and lived life to its fullest. Most importantly, Pat was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Pursuit of her career led to her receiving a PhD degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1959. With tenure of over thirty years in the College of Arts and Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Pat distinguished herself among her colleagues, peers and students as a truly exceptional person and educator. After retirement in 1998, Pat enjoyed traveling all over the world. Surviving Pat are her brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert P. Townsend and Joann of Pollok, Texas, Cliff Townsend and Sheryl of Carthage, Texas, and Dan Townsend and Camille of Huntington, Texas. Pat is also survived by her nieces: Cindy Aldredge, Kelly Ferguson, Paula Capps, Heather Thomas, Michele Evans, Angela Ellington, Beth Due, Erin T. Frewin, Kelley Hill, Jodi Wilson, Tracey Boniol, and a host of greatly beloved friends.
