CUSHING â€" Funeral services for Mary Carolyn Porter, 70, of Douglass, will be Wednesday, May 15th at 10 a.m. in the Dickie Allen Funeral Home Chapel in Cushing with Bro. Jerry Newton and Bro. Michael Parks officiating. Burial will follow at Douglass Cemetery. Mrs. Porter passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013 at her home in Douglass. She was born February 11, 1943 in Lufkin to Oscar and Mary Loyce Hearn Allen. She lived in Douglass for 40 years. She was a member of Alazan Congregational Methodist Church and attended Faith Bridge Methodist. She played piano and the organ, earned a Bachelor's of Science from UT Galveston and was a X-Ray Tech for over 40 years. She worked for Nacogdoches Medical Center for 18 years. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, James Lee Porter. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Wesley and Lana Porter of Mt. Enterprise, Jay Porter and Kaye Williams of Mt. Enterprise; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Andy Abernathy of Slocum; sisters and brother-in-law, Georgia and Thomas Elmer of Lufkin; Regina Johnson of Madisonville; grandchildren, Dakota, Bailey, and Madison Porter and Lindzey, Andrew, and Gracie Abernathy. Pallbearers: Lance Porter, Jerry Baker, Randy Baker, Andy Barrett, Jimmy Elmer and Chris Elmer. Honorary Pallbearer is Jeff Stripling. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 14th from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home in Cushing.
