Perry Lynn Martin Sr.

Perry Lynn Martin, Sr., 70, of Hudson, son of Elmer and Ardella Martin, was born July 25, 1939 and passed away June 11, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Martin was a graduate of Lawton High School in 1957 and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Oklahoma Southwest State College. He also earned a Master\'d5s degree at Oklahoma State University. He spent his life as an educator and counselor in public schools and colleges. He spent many years as an alcohol and drug abuse counselor and social worker. He dedicated his life to helping others. Although he loved his children, he spent many hours with his grandchildren whom he cherished and they adored him. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Jim Denman, Lori and Gene Dorsett Jr. and Kristal and Mike Martin; son, Perry Martin, Jr.; his cherished grandchildren, Nasstassia Sitze, Mikaela Martin, Trey and Tanner Dorsett, Rachel and Natalie Denman, Hannah and Lucas Martin; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Sue Martin; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara; and daughter, Misty Martin. Pallbearers will be Jim Denman, Gene Dorsett, Trey Dorsett, Tanner Dorsett, Ben Bartlett and Matt Denman. Honorary pallbearer will be Mike Martin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to A Pineywoods Home Health Corp., 103 Carriage Drive, Lufkin, TX 75901. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2010 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Clay Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
