Ralph R. Jones, 67 was born May 19, 1942 in Wells, Texas and died Nov. 20, 2009, in Lufkin. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents Frankie Rogers and Garland Jones. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jennifer Bradley Jones, son Phillip and wife Carla Jones; daughters Darlyn and husband Eberlan, Shawna and husband Mickey Ponder. He has seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a sister and a niece. Mr. Jones was employed at Lufkin Industries for over 20 years, vice-president of Oil City Ironworks for 11 years, and foundry superintendent for Marlin Sprocket and Gear for nine years. Mr. Jones was a Wells Pirate basketball captain, crafted six race cars and was a champion racer for three years. His hobbies included restoration of furniture and classic cars. He enjoyed NASCAR and football. In 1959, Ralph joined the Wells Baptist Church and worshipped with his wife, Jennifer, at the First United Methodist Church, in Lufkin. All who knew him knew Ralph was a man's man, avid hunter and well respected. He will be greatly missed. A celebration of his life service will be held in the Henderson Chapel of the First United Methodist Church of Lufkin on Tuesday, Nov. 24, at 11 a.m. with Rev. D. Nick Sholars and Rev. Michael Tyson officiating. The family will greet friends in the Allen Parlor at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to FUMC, 805 Denman, Lufkin, TX 75901. Colonial Mortuary directors.
