Services for Dorotha 'Dot' Hambrick Johnson Walker, 85, of Lufkin, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Charles Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery. Dorotha Walker, lovingly called 'Gan Gan', was called home by her Lord and Savior on May 29, 2013 in Huffman, Texas, surrounded by her family. Dorotha was born on the 11th of October, 1927 in Lufkin, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Nora (Dunn) Hambrick Sommers and Earnest Hambrick. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, T.J. Johnson, Dwain Walker, and Kenneth Field; son, Jimmy Royce Johnson; daughter-in-law, Susan Jean Johnson; two brothers, Jack and Bill Hambrick; one sister, Doris Waller; one grandson, Johnny Roy Johnson, Jr.; and great-aunt, Grace Hambrick. She is survived by her children, Madelyn Johnson Rakestraw and husband Harold of Houston, David Ray Johnson Sr., and wife Alene of Huntington, and Johnny Roy Johnson, Sr. and wife Pam of Brazoria; a special daughter who has lovingly cared for her, Retha Johnson of Humble; daughter-in-law, Kay Johnson; aunt, Myrtle Hambrick Parker; sister-in-law, Jessie Bell Johnson; three stepsons; grandchildren, Danny Rakestraw, Susan and John Stasney, Renee Stringer, Mignon Latour-Burke and Kevin Burke, David Johnson, Jr., Paula and Tem Lucy, and Brandy Johnson; 18 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends. Dorotha was an active member for many years in the VFW Ladies' Auxiliary. She was Volunteer of the Decade in 2001. She also had many other awards for her volunteerism. She visited many nursing homes over the years to provide comfort to those who had none. She loved to work with her hands. Cross stitch and crochet were her favorites. She loved playing cards and was always up for a game of 42. Dorotha was a lifelong member of the Assemblies of God Church. Pallbearers will be Danny Rakestraw, David Johnson, Jr., David Johnson, III, Brandon Johnson, Scotty Smith, Ryan Latour, Dwain Clevenger and T J Baranowski. Honorary pallbearers will Jake Johnson, Hayden Johnson, John Stasney, Jr., Hunter Stasney, Brayden Becker, Graeme Burkhalter and Corey Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dorotha's memory may be made to the , Greater East Texas Chapter, P. O.Box 630636, Nacogdoches, TX 75963-0636. Condolences may be offered at Services have been placed in the trust of Gipson Funeral Home.
