Funeral service for Phillip B. Bennett, 71, of Lufkin will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2013 in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel with Pastor Raymond Butts officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mr. Bennett was born June 28, 1942 in Lufkin to the late Reba (Breazealle) and Kelly Bennett and died July 10, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Bennett was retired from Brookshire Brothers as a truck driver and also worked part time with Coca Cola. He was a very good husband, loving father, and grandfather. Mr. Bennett was a good hearted and kind man that never met a stranger and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved camping especially with his children and grandchildren and was a member of the Lotus Lane Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mareta Bennett; daughter and spouse, Kellie Hardin and Gerald Havard; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Allyson Bennett, all of Lufkin; son and girlfriend, Paul Bennett and Kimmi Pennington of Hot Springs, AR; step-daughter and husband, Michele and Jason Dixon; step-son and wife, Douglas and Amy Reeves, all of Lufkin; grandchildren, Amber, Tess, Haley, Calvin, Lindsey, Hannah, Kelsey, Cassie, and Kalynn; great-grandson, Jesse Lamar; brother, Michael Bennett; sister, Debra Matlock; brothers-in-law, Bob Short, Kenneth Short, Ted Reppond, Elroy Hamilton; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives. Pallbearers will be Jason Dixon, Gerald Havard, Kevin McMullen, Michael Bennett, Jr., Bobby Dennis and Keith Dennis. Honorary Pallbearers will be Floyd Brown, Roy Havard and Larry Cox.
