Leeann, JD, and Josh. Joe did so much for so many. Teaching so many kids how to ski including Nicole. He was a master of many things and a true human being in my eyes. The flashbacks of all our times together continue daily and many make me laugh. Sabrina and I are sorry for your loss. He will be missed

Joe worked for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, known as DWP.
He was hired 4 days after his 26th birthday on October 6, 1986.
He served nearly 23 years with DWP.
He was an Electric Station Operator that for approximately the last 16 years has operated our extra high voltage stations located here in Southern Nevada.
Joe was a knowledgeable employee; he was one that was very proud of his operating skills.
He was always willing to share his knowledge with others.
When we struggled with the technical aspects of the job, we relied on Joe’s skill sets to resolve those problems.
Not only was Joe willing to share his job knowledge with us, he could talk about boats for hours, and I learned show much about boats and boating from Joe.
Joe would talk about his buddy Matt. He spoke highly of Matt and about Matt’s family. We all knew who Matt was at work. It was almost as if Matt worked for DWP. We have all learned from getting to know Matt a little better, why Joe spoke so highly of him.
Joe was always interested in how we were doing and how our families were doing.
He spoke highly of his children and would listen intently whenever I spoke about my children and what they were up to.
If I needed assistance he always offered his help, at work, and away from work
I will remember Joe for his ability to befriend people so quickly and so easily.
When I first moved to Southern Nevada with my family he helped me finish digging a trench, lay down some conduit, and pull wiring from the front of my home to a spa in my back yard, he did this for me after just meeting me.
He invited my family out to the lake on his boat with his family and we got to witness some master boating and skiing by him and his family.
Watching Joe and Leean launch and trailer their boat was like watching masters at their craft.
When crews would come up from LA to work at our stations, he would invite some of them to his home or out to the lake for fun.
He was well liked by many in the DWP.
Employees that have known Joe for years were shocked and saddened by the news of his death.
The Department of Water and Power has suffered a great loss.
We have lost a good friend and one of our best assets.
We wanted and we needed Joe to return to work.
I miss Joe, I am angry, and feel sorrow for what happened.
Thank you Joe for your friendship and for your service to the City of LA, Department of Water and Power
Thank you Leeann, JD, and Josh for sharing Joe with us during his 22+ years of service.
You will always be part of our DWP family

Leeann, J.D. and Josh,
I only knew Joe for a few years. In the time that I did know him he was the greatest friend anyone could ask for. He always made me laugh with his dry sense of humor and skewed outlook on life. He always had time to listen to a friend, no matter how big or how small the problem was he always knew the right words to say. Joe was the go-to guy, the friend you could always depend on being there. The other funny thing about Joe was his for love his white leather reebok high tops, he was a little OCD about them, but that is just who he was! He spoke often of his family often and how much he loved you all. He was very proud of the boys and what they have accomplished so far in life. Leeann my heart goes out to you in this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.
Be Blessed.

Leeann, J.D. and Josh,
We are so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. Our hearts and prayers are with you all. Though it has been years since we have seen you all, we have many fond memories of our fun parties at the Buss's house. Joe always new how to liven up a party. And the camping/waterski trips to Buena Vista were an absolute blast. Great times with some great people. A light has definitely gone out here on earth, but the heavens our brighter than ever with his presence. Hold fast to the love and good times. I know he will always be with you in all you do.
With love and prayers,
