When Billy passed away, I lost my best friend. No longer will I get that early morning phone call: “Hey, professor, what are you going to do today?” No longer will he be here to coach and mentor me. (Yes, he taught me that even a sixty-five year old needs guidance.) No longer will he be here to support me and Stephanie during my own illnesses.
In many ways, we were the odd couple. Our backgrounds were totally different. We were the yankee and the rebel. He was as staunch a conservative as I am a liberal. Almost every Friday, after our poker session, we would go for the buffet at the Mirage and argue politics.
As most of you know, Bill was a very private person. I’m honored that he chose me to be his friend.
May he rest in peace.

Dear Uncle Bill, as I read the loving comments from others I realize how many you helped, touched and guided. When I had the honor of living with you one summer you turned off the TV and expressed your deepest encouragement on me going to college. To this day I thank you and are forever grateful of the life advice you gave me, all of which I followed and cherish. My life successes are mostly do to your love, care and wisdom. You were not just an Uncle but an example and a top notch high end Furrier and winning race car driver, you had the love of so many of us outside and inside your family such as my Mom Lynn your loving sister whom through the years spoke of you with such respect and such longing to see you more as we all did. Thank you for being you, you were our very important teacher and now our angel. I love you! Stephanie, your forever grateful niece!

Uncle Bill,
I have not seen you since I was a little girl but I have always remembered you for giving me the most important advice anyone ever did when it came to dealing with my mother, your late sister Jo Anne. That advice helped me keep my sanity over the years and I always wish I could have thanked you in person. May you rest in peace! Your niece, Vikki A.
