GRAMZAY, GERALD Gerald "Jerry" Gramzay passed on to eternal life on October 8, 2013. Beloved husband of Antoinette (nee Gancasz) and loving and doting father of Brandon, Jerry will long be remembered for his compassionate nature, inquisitive mind, nurturing spirit, and culinary creativity. Jerry is also survived by his mother, Joene (Connelly) Gramzay; siblings, Steven (Marsi) Gramzay, Janet (Mike) Bires, Kathleen Gramzay, Rob (Scott) Gramzay and Lori (Steve) Vuljaj; as well as many nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. Jerry's father, Eugene Gramzay, predeceased him in 2011. Jerry was an award-winning chef who was a partner and Executive Corporate Chef at Stafford's Hospitality, Inc., owner of the Perry Hotel, the Bay View Inn, and the Pier Restaurant properties in Petoskey, Michigan. Prior to moving to Petoskey, Jerry worked at many renowned 5-star restaurants and hotels including The Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, Mich., The Rugby Grille at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham, Mich. (which, under his direction, was named Restaurant of the Year by Hour Magazine), The Pierre Hotel, Tavern on the Green and The Four Seasons in New York, New York, Le Bec Fin in Philadelphia, Penn., Le Francais in Wheeling, Ill., and Maxim's and the Hotel Ritz in Paris, France. Jerry received his formal culinary education at Lycee Technique d'Hotellerie et de Tourisme de Strasbourg in Strasbourg, France. From pastry to politics, family to foie gras, Jerry was a truly rare individual who was passionate about everything in his life. A memorial service to celebrate Jerry and his life will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church in Petoskey, Mich. A reception will follow the Mass.
