HENRY MASAKOWSKI


Age 92, passed away February 13, 2014. Retired from General Motors, Parts Fab Division as an automotive wood model marker. A veteran of World War II and served as a pilot in the U.S. Navy with the rank of Lieutenant JG. Henry continued with his love of flying for many years. His family fondly remembers the sound of his fly-bys as he circled their neighborhoods tipping and waving the wings of his airplane as they jumped with glee and waved back to their dad/grandpa, the pilot. Beloved husband of Anna (nee Kujawski) for 67 years; loving father of Elaine (Richard) Szlaga, Michael (Nancy), Paul (Cynthia), Henry (Kristine), Peter (Linda), Joseph (Lori), Jerome (JoAnn) and Stanley Masakowski. Dear grandfather of 20, Shelly (David) Smith, Sheree (John) Tharrett, Felicia (David) Gunthner, Carrie (James) Belmonte, Henry Jr., Andrew (Amy), Marissa, Marie, Adam, Eric, Christopher, Ryan, Alexander, Shawn, Evan, Ethan and Lucas Masakowski, Lance and Kenny Allen. Predeceased by Alyssa Byers. Loving great-grandfather of six, William, Jenna, Madelyn, Michael, Raymond and Ryleigh. Brother of Steve (Virginia) Mosakowski, Genevieve (Harry) Zywiol, Helen (late Eugene) Sekutowski; sister-in-law, Maxine (late Martin) Mosakowski. Predeceased by Eleanor (Walter) Sulak, John, Leonard and Edward Mosakowski. Visitation Monday 3-9 p.m. at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc., 36900 Schoenherr Road at Metro Parkway (16 Mile). Scripture service Monday 7 p.m. Instate Tuesday 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. time of Mass at St. Ephrem Church, 38900 Dodge Park and 17 Mile Road. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
