Mr. Maurice Richard "Dick" Sheehy

Maurice Richard "Dick" Sheehy, age 82, of Harrison Township, passed away at home on May 4, 2013. Born to parents Maurice "Irish" and Rachel Sheehy on November 27, 1930, Dick was a graduate of Lakeview High School - class of 1949. Richard was a Marine Corps veteran, serving his country during the Korean War Era. He owned and operated a Mobil service station for 30 years. He coached basketball at St. Isaac Jogues and St. Louis Schools. Richard was also very active in politics, having served as Harrison Township Trustee for 15 years. He also enjoyed his work as District Court Officer in Mt. Clemens. Above all, Dick was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Joyce; brother Dennis (Norma) Sheehy; sisters-in-law Betty Sheehy, Judith (Mel) Merleno and Norma Hessler. He is predeceased by his infant son, Patrick Michael; sisters Nora Sheehy, Elizabeth (William) Hessler, Patricia (John) Kenley, Ellen (Lee) Rabenburg, Priscilla (George) Freeman, Josephine (John) Bidigare and Maureen Sheehy; and brother William Sheehy. He will truly be missed. Visitation will be held for Mr. Sheehy at the Wm. R. Hamilton Co.- Mount Clemens on Thursday and Friday May 9 & 10, from 2-8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at St. Louis Catholic Church, at 10 a.m., 9:30 a.m. instate, Fr. Larry Pettke officiating. Burial to follow at St. Peter Cemetery. Please make memorial contributions to: Food For the Poor; Seasons Hospice, or The Divine Mercy Center.
